Huhu...
It's been quite a long long long time ago since I read the first volume of "Good Morning Call", manga by Yue Takasuka.
I bought the Malay version of that manga in 2009 - which is when I was 12. So, it's really been a while, but wait, actually, the manga was published earlier than that in Japan, in 1997.
Too old right ?
But then, this year, I can now watch the live action of that manga! Huhu...
I never thought about this, and I was a bit shocked about it...and my imagination of all the characters seemed like...ahh...
Anyway, the manga, of course, is 10 times better than the live action!
And here's my reasons why...
 |
Hisashi in Manga |
1) Hisashi Uehara
Erkk...I'm okay with Nao Yoshikawa character in live action because I think it's really like the manga version, but then...for Uehara, you see...firstly, I find that all other male characters in live action (except for Mitsu) look better than him. It's not supposed to be that way.
In the manga, Hisashi Uehara is the most good-looking character...

Next, Uehara character is very very boring in live action...no fun, no jokes...like, where's all that ? In the manga, he makes you laugh you know...he makes me laugh! And the way he loves food in live action looks...arghh...better I read the manga.
Poor him, actually if you read the manga, you know he has a friend that he talks to sometimes, and he even talks about Nao to his friend. However in live action, he only talks with his boss - who is like a father to him - and...erkk...
Anyway, I really can't accept the way Hisashi Uehara in live action. He seems not like him. Why they can make Nao looks like Nao while they cannot make Uehara looks like Uehara ?
2) Daichi Shinozaki
Wait...wait...wait...why there's this character ? Who is he ? Erk hmm...because when I read the manga, this character is not there! Why ? Why they have to add a brand new character ? In live action series, Daichi appears as Nao childhood friend. He also is Nao's senior and always there to help and lends his hand to Nao...he also has a feeling for Nao...blablabla...
And I really can't get it why this character has to be there in live action...and you see, actually, he's better than Uehara...and I guess if you watch the live action, you will like him a lot more than Uehara and that's not how it is supposed to be...because he's just a second lead character...
3) Takuya
Hmmm....hmm...Takuya is Hisashi Uehara's older brother and he appears in the live action!
Wait...
In the manga, his character never shows up...I know how good-looking he is even though he never appears in the manga as Yuri always says so...well, and it's alright to not see him there...hmm, actually it's a little bit sad ( I really want to see Takuya in the manga! )
But then, when he's there in live action...you look at him, and he's not like how you think he is...it's weird you know. I guess it's better if he's not there...
Why can't they just follow the manga ? Haishh...
Maybe because this is live action...
4) Nao's parents.
Hmm...like Takuya, these two characters just appear in the live action...
Why...why ? Why ?
Maybe to make the story looks real ?

5) Abe Jun

I really can't believe it how this character turns in live action...he's less funny than how he is in the manga...also, there's not much of a story about him unlike in the manga, he's always there...makes you laugh so hard...makes the situation funnier than ever...
He just seems not like that in the live action...maybe because I like him in the manga, my expectation is high for his character...
Anyway, I'm not gonna deny that in the manga my most favorite character is Hisashi Uehara, while for live action, I prefer Issei Sata.

Issei in live action |
If you have read the manga, and not yet watch the live action, please don't expect too much...they've changed quite a lot of the story but the main plot is still there...and believe me, you'll love the manga more. If you never read it but you already watched the live action...I don't know how you feel but I still would like to suggest you to read the manga...
Hmm...although the live action is a bit upsetting but, it's hard to not watch it until the end. So, I've watched it until episode 15...and I'll watch the last two episodes soon!
Out of 10, I give the live action 7.
It's still okay...not that bad. I just think I prefer manga more than the live action...
